Summer has come and gone. Now Fall is upon us and it’s time for the new season of anime to begin.
Ratings will be provided for all the shows that’s aired, and has been evaluated by the world-class certified Quality Evaluation Team here at Arse Monster.
First we’re blasting off with the most promising of the season – what every anime fan needs to watch this season. If a show’s in this section, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a must-watch.
Mushoku Tensei S2 - 01
More of the same. If you liked the first season, the second season – or “Part 2” as it’s officially called – you’ll no doubt probably want to watch Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Part 2 as well. Rating: 9/10
Mahou Tsukai no Yome - Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi OVA 1
I’m always down for more of this rather fantastic series. If you haven’t already rushed to grab yourself the latest releases of this series, or if you’re unfamiliar with the series, then do yourself a favor and go check out The Ancient Magus’ Bride: The Boy from the West and the Knight of the Blue Storm. Rating: 9/10
Note: This is technically a Summer 2021 anime, but there’s not been a release until now, so I’m putting it here anyway. Up yours if anyone disagrees. Though, there’s always that sweet comment section down below… Nudge Nudge
Mieruko-chan - 01
Comedy, horror and slice of life…with cute girls. Hell yeah.
Although starting off with an episode with mainly character introductions and suspense building, Mieruko-chan has shown promise with its nice animation and good character designs. Rating: 9/10
Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu - 01
Russians? Space? Vampires? Russian space-faring vampires? Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Does anything else need to be said, really?
With nice character design and a unique setup for a story, Irina: The Vampire Cosmonaut has gotten a solid start. Go give the series a watch if it sounds like it’s up your alley. Rating: 8/10
Sidenote: Amazing localization of the title once more. The subtitles aren’t exactly amazing either, but no major issues.
86 S2 - 01
The second season of 86: Eighty Six has gotten off to a promising start. If you enjoyed the first season, then be sure to check out 86 EIGHTY-SIX Season 2. Rating: 8/10
Selection Project - 01
Yet another idol trash series? Yeah, sure; but it’s got cute girls so it’s fine.
The first episode has started off with a selection of really nice music, interesting story, and an impressive level of animation. And if Selection Project manages to keep up the level the first episode as showed, this one might turn out to be one amazing anime. Rating: 8/10
Isekai Shokudou S2 - 01
Pucker that sphincter of yours, fire up that pan, and roast that panini, for we’re watching more food porn in the second season of Restaurant to Another World. Rating: 7/10
This one might actually be kinda good.
Check out Komi Can’t Communicate if you’ve got a thing for mute girls with a mean glare. Rating: 7/10
Saihate no Paladin - 01
A bit weird, but okay.
So, The Faraway Paladin is a thing. Rating: 6/10
It’s more of that demon anime. Nothing much else to say about it really.
Now on to the shows that seems less interesting, but might still be something to consider for those that are starved for yet more animated goodness.
Ansatsu Kizoku - 01
This is almost 100% going to end up in the Trash, but it’s going in this section for now.
A better first episode than expected, though at least another episode will be required to give The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat definite score. Rating: 6/10
Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi - 01
Legal lolis in the workforce.
If short women are you’re kink, then be sure to watch My Senpai is Annoying. Rating: 6/10
Takt Op. Destiny - 01
Musical-based anime? Sure, why not.
The first episode hasn’t exactly given the most inspiring impression, but it wasn’t horrible either. At least another episode will be required to know for sure if this is worth watching for real. Give takt op.Destiny a watch if fancy musical fights sounds like something you’d enjoy. Rating: 5/10
Sakugan - 01
This one screams potential trash, but there isn’t enough material to determine for sure yet.
While the animation isn’t exactly prize-worthy, the first episode has a story that carries potential. Check out SAKUGAN if adventure, scifi and mecha sounds like it’s up your alley.
Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Dai Mankai no Shou - 01
So, this is like the 600th season/ova/movie/whatever of this series. If you dug the others, you’ll probably like this one as well. (Actually, this is supposed to be the third season.)
With that in mind, it only stands to reason there has to be someone out there that will really love this one. Judging by the first episode, Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Great Mankai Chapter might just one to keep an eye out for if your into magical girl stuff. Rating: 7/10
Taishou Otome Otogibanashi - 01
No idea.
So, Taisho Otome Fairy Tale is a thing. Rating: 5/10
Waccha PriMagi! - 01
Magical girl idol garbage, but at least the girls looks kinda cute.
I assume pretty much all long time anime fans have already heard of PriPara. If that type of show interests you, then Waccha PriMagi! is a definite watch. Rating: 5/10
MUTEKING THE Dancing HERO - 01
Whatever the hell this is, it could very well end up in either the Must Watch or Garbage section instead. More episodes than the current singular, weird as fuck, episode is going to be needed to fully evaluate the MUTEKING THE Dancing HERO series. Rating: 5/10
Sankaku Mado no Sotogawa wa Yoru - 01
A shounen ai, with ghost detectives.
While the first episode has some elements of the usual tropes, the story has actually gotten off to a pretty decent start. So, if you’re huge on cheesy gay dialogue and a sprinkling of ghosts and detectives, go check out The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window. Rating: 4.5/10
Kyuuketsuki Sugu Shinu - 01
Vampire comedy…? Welp, Lelouch sure has fallen on bad times.
While the series started off with some amount of potential, by its second episode, The Vampire Dies in No Time has devolved into something almost worthy of the trash-heap. One might even say that, wait for it… My interest in this show died in no time. …Please clap. Rating: 4.5/10
Blue Period - 01
The definition of “Eh.”
You can check out Blue Period if paint-offs are your kink. Rating: 5/10
For the right person, this might be great.
So, this godforsaken series is back at it again with a fourth season…
“YoYos,” but for the people out there just swings differently.
Likely trash.
Idol girls…ice skating? Huh?
What’s this?
This season, the council has decided to incorporate a new section – namely the “Movies” section, wherein movies shall be listed in simple ranked order.
Sword Art Online: Progressive - PV1
As of this current update, the anime hasn’t even aired yet, and yet it’s already anime of the year. Amazing stuff. Rating: 10/10
The second of six movies that makes up the sequel to the first season of the rather good Princess Principal anime.
Yet another installment in the Eureka franchise, making it the twelfth one no one asked for.
Here’s where the garbage dump of the season will get featured. Shows that were previously in “The Good Stuff” or “Honorable Mentions” might retroactively be relegated to this section if they turn out to be, in fact, trash.
Tesla Note - 01
This one practically screamed hot trash from the very beginning; and to no one’s surprise, it turned out to be just that.
With its heavy use of CGI, and absurdly bad character animation, Tesla Note goes straight into the trash. Rating: 3/10
Shuumatsu no Harem - 01
Horny trash.
Rarely does one come across an anime that you just can’t help but literally facepalm at; but World’s End Harem is certainly one of those rare cases. Rating: 3/10
Note: If it wasn’t for the fact that the first episode had me unable to stop laughing, due to how utterly retarded the story is, it would’ve gotten an even lower score. Also, expect the regular broadcast to have it be censored to hell and back.
Update: Episode two got “delayed” until the Winter-season of 2022 instead… Heh.
Platinum End - 01
Cutting teen edge, but with angels.
While it had a fairly promising start, Platinum End’s story quickly went in a direction that wasn’t all that promising. Still, if teen angst and stupid as all hell story doesn’t bother you, then this is certainly still worth a look. Rating: 4/10
Shinka no Mi: Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei - 01
Return to…gorilla?
The first episode of Sexy Gorilla Adventure wasn’t all that impressive. However, it might yet redeem itself. Update: It didn’t.
While not quite on the rusty-fork-to-the-eye bad, The Fruit of Evolution: Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made is still bland beyond belief, and the animation is barely watchable. Rating: 4/10
Shin no Nakama - 01
A “slow life” fantasy-type anime.
Perfectly according to it’s title, expect fuck all to happen during its thirteen episodes. Then again, it can’t be worse than reading the light novel… Right? Check Banished from the Hero’s Party, I Decided to Live a Quiet Life in the Countryside for slow “waste of time” life greatness. Rating: 4/10
Deep Insanity: The Lost Child - 01
Watched it, didn’t care. Check Deep Insanity THE LOST CHILD if you’re desperate want to have more stuff to watch. Rating: 4/10
Kyoukai Senki - 01
The obligatory mecha trash of the season.
Go give AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline a watch if you’re into mecha with an AI-sidekick with one of the planet’s most annoying voices. Rating: 4/10
Digimon Ghost Game - 01
It’s Digimon, either you’ll love it or not. Here’s the link to the AniList entry for Digimon Ghost Game if you’re interested. Rating: 4/10
Muv-Luv Alternative - 01
I can’t believe it not butter– Wait, no, I can’t believe this franchise is still a thing… Seriously, who asked for this?
If you’re desperate for girls in skin-tight battle suits and military mecha, with a sprinkling of terrible CGI, go knock yourself our with Muv-Luv Alternative. Rating: 4/10
Build Divide: Code Black - 01
Card game trash.
Yeah, ain’t got nothing much to say about BUILD-DIVIDE -#000000- CODE BLACK. It’s the season’s obligatory card game garbage. Watch if that’s your thing. Rating: 2/10
Visual Prison - 01
Musical vampire shounen ai.
Take a look at VISUAL PRISON if singing CG gay vampires is your thing. Rating: 4/10
Shikizakura - 01
I preemptively put this in the trash section, and surprise surprise, it turned out to be trash.
Give Shikizakura a watch if talking CGI abominations are your thing. Rating: 3/10
Star Wars Visions S01E07
草。 Feel free to check out Star Wars: Visions if you love western-based trash in anime form. Rating: 2/10
Chinese video game-based trash.
Absolute garbage of a series. One million episodes in, and basically fuck all has happened.
More ScrunchyRoll garbage. Considering the trailer looks like hot trash, I’mma just put it in the trash right away.
❄️
The new season is upon us. Be sure to check out the new anime of 2022’s Winter Season as well!
